VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA – August 18, 2022 – A nine-member delegation of the Chinese Ambassador to Canada, H. E. CONG Peiwu visited the headquarters of Loop Energy™. President & CEO, Ben Nyland, and the leadership team greeted and extended a warm welcome to Ambassador’s visit.
During the visit, the team showed Ambassador Cong the manufacturing facility, introduced its fuel cell technology and discussed the rapidly evolving hydrogen industry and Loop Energy’s plans for expansion. Following the tour, the Ambassador and his delegation held a video conference with the management team of Loop Energy Shanghai. President, Quan Hu reported the company’s investment and facility construction in China and exchanged views with Ambassador Cong on the market prospect in China and the current business expansion.
As the world’s second-largest economy, Loop Energy sees incredible value and potential in China’s hydrogen-electric vehicles market. In 2021, Loop Energy Shanghai, a wholly owned subsidiary was established in Jiading, Shanghai, which is dedicated to providing zero-emission fuel cell solutions to Chinese OEMs. Loop Energy Shanghai is currently constructing a progressive automated fuel cell stack and system assembly line. As of Phase 1, the facility is more than 3,000 square metres following over 50 million RMB in investment. Following Phase 1, Loop Energy Shanghai will have a manufacturing capacity of 3,000 fuel cell modules a year and 1,000 fuel cell systems a year.
Ambassador Cong said, “Achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality is a solemn commitment made by China to address global climate change. The Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of new energy industry, including hydrogen and fuel cells. China has issued a series of policies from the central to the local governments to support and encourage the innovation and development of this industry. China welcomes Canadian companies, including Loop Energy, to develop locally in China. We hope that the company can seize the opportunity, continue to develop its own advantages, and jointly promote China-Canada economic and trade relations to a higher level.”
